In 1996 I graduated City University London, with a 2:1 in BSc Insurance and Investment. I became a Bond Broker in the City. Many people said I wouldn't succeed because I was a girl and I didn't drink alcohol. I did absolutely fine, got headhunted, and then realised that, although I was earning a big salary, plus bonuses, I didn't feel fulfilled.
I left the City 17 years ago and studied to be a Beauty Therapist. I loved it. It felt so much more rewarding to provide a personal service than just making money for big corporations.
I still work as a Therapist - giving facials, reflexology and massage (my treatment loves).
I have 3 children and was the main carer of them whilst being married. They were aged 10, 7 and 4 when me and their dad divorced. We now share care of them and everyone is happy.
While I was getting divorced I also trained as a Fitness Instructor and teach regular Bodypump, HIIT and Circuit classes locally.
I also started reading self-development books, stopped watching TV and stopped reading newspapers. My life became so much better.
I started to drift away from the negative people in my life and new, likeminded friends have appeared.
I managed to keep positive throughout a nasty divorce and came out the other side a brighter, kinder, more giving, human. I stopped judging others and started helping those around me.
This has developed into a truly rewarding career. A lots of clients come to me giving themselves a General Happiness score of 2/10. After a six week course with me many give themselves 10/10. To see their change is amazing.
